What is Botox?

Botox is the world’s most popular nonsurgical aesthetic treatment. An injectable medication, Botox works by temporarily impeding the ability of targeted facial muscles to go through their full range of motion. That means those muscles will no longer be able to pull your skin into wrinkles, folds, and lines.

Botox is FDA-approved for use on frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet. This medication can also be used off-label to create a number of effects in other areas of the face. Injections take very little time. The effects develop within a couple of days and last for around four months.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable substances that act to replace or augment facial volume. One of the primary factors in the aging process is the loss of collagen.

With less collagen, your skin is left to sag and pool into lines, folds, and wrinkles. You can develop hollows in your cheeks and under your eyes, and jowls can appear at the jawline.

Dermal fillers introduce a gellike substance into your facial tissues to restore soft, youthful contouring. Most are made from a synthetic form of hyaluronic acid, a substance your body produces naturally.
